    • 1. "Samson appears to be the family patriarrch (of the William Caudle and James Caudle lines). He is either the brother or father to William, Stephen, Henry S., John, and Richard all eventually owning land in the north of Brunswick County, VA bordering the Meherrin River."       3. Indenture made the 28th day of November, 1758, between Sampson CAUDLE and John CAUDLE, for 5 shillings, conveying 50 acres adjoining lands of DAVIS (now in the possession of Hugh WILLIAMS), CORDEL, Hubbard QUARLES, and Joshua DRAPER. Witnesses were John GUNTER, Junr., Richd. GUNTER, and Hugh WILLIAMS. Indenture and receipt were proved in Court on November 29, 1758, by the oaths of the witnesses. Deed Book 6, page 305.
