- 1.Mary's maiden name of Yarborough or Yarbrough has never been proven and it is not known exactly where it originated. However, there is a Surry Co., NC, marriage record for a James Caudle and Mary Yarbrough on January 22, 1849. This James Caudle was born ca. 1823 and was the son of William and Gracie (Broadway) Caudle (reference "Appalachia Crossroads: The Caudill Family", pages 2036 and 2039). It is not known at this time how this James Caudle connects with James Caudill, Sr., if indeed he does at all. Brian K. Caudill.
