- 1.Written by Lenny Famon Caudill II: Alice Caudill was the first wife of Linnie Famon Caudill. She was killed by a flood in Basin Cove in 1916. She was pregnant with their first child at the time. She was in Linnie Caudill's cabin along with her mother and Linnie's brother Cornelius whenthe flood killed all three of them. Alice's grave marker is on the trail leading up the Caudill Cabin in Doughton Park, NC. It's about a mile and a half up the trail from the intersection of Longbottom Road and the creek. The grave is just behind the church ruins at the point where the fire trail leads up the mountain.
